My most important attributes are my ability to build relationships and listen. I take the time to listen to what other people are saying and what they are not saying. In other words, the meaning or intention behind their words. This has enabled me to identify their true challenges and the opportunities for my businesses to grow.

Through this style of communication, I have built long term relationships with customers, partners, co-workers, and friends. I have stayed in touch with people including the principals from the first marketing and PR agencies I utilized in the early nineties to current and new ones. We continue to meet and talk by phone to share ideas and thoughts about the past, present, and future. This holds true too with my internal and external customers. I rely on former co-workers and associates as a sounding board for ideas. My customers have followed me as my career has progressed just as I has followed them. We have built a trust in each other and our capabilities knowing we can work together to help each other’s businesses grow – and that has helped us all to grow and advance.

These two attributes combine to allow me to translate needs into opportunities. I am then able to communicate them effectively thereby generating marketing, sales, and business success. I emphasize sales success as we are all selling – both internal to our company and externally. We need to sell strategies internally across management and departments and we need to position products or services to be sold to customers. From HR to finance to marketing, we are all sales people and communicators. It is how we build businesses.
